Quinebaug River Prehistoric Archaeological District

A Connecticut State Archaeological Preserve

This Jack’s Reef Pentagonal projectile point from Site 22-33 is about 1,700 years old. The point was made from jasper, a fine-grained stone from eastern Pennsylvania. Jack’s Reef points are characteristic of the second half of the Middle Woodland period in southern New England, a time when the Northeast’s indigenous people were participating in very complex and far-reaching trade networks.
